Paden City Labor Day Celebration to Mark 73rd Year | News, Sports, Jobs
The city of Paden will be alive and bouncing over Labor Day weekend as the annual Labor Day celebration begins its 73rd year. All of this year’s musical performances have been moved from Main Street to the Main Stage in City Park.
There will be live shows each day with music starting Friday night, September 3, when the ever-popular Davisson Brothers take the stage for a two-hour show starting at 7 p.m.
The Saturday music starts at 2pm with Sugar Buzz bringing in the sounds with a two hour performance. This is a great local band that you should not miss. At 4:30 p.m. – 6 p.m., another local group will follow them. “Half cracked” who will play all your favorites from the 60s and 70s. The evening’s program will be rounded off by Mars Alley with an hour and a half of all-time favorites. The show starts at 8 p.m. and ends at 9:30 p.m.
On Sunday, get ready for a great mix of music as Honkey Tonk Sweethearts presents your favorite country hits with a performance at 2 p.m. At 3:30 p.m., Rim Shot will blast out sounds that are sure to be a crowd-pleaser as they give an hour and a half of performance, followed by Brad Malone at 5 p.m. Sunday’s rap will be Rick K Road Trip starting at 7:30 p.m. and ending when the crowd is ready to go home.
Labor Day September 6 will be a fun-filled day around town as people from far and near flock to Rt. 2, for the annual Labor Day Parade which features high school groups and teams sports, tanks, politicians, businesses, churches, boy scout troops, police, emergency vehicles, fire trucks and of course some of the best union workers in the country. Workers from all trades will be in attendance as the community celebrates workers of all kinds.
Also on the schedule for Monday will be the annual 5K fun run starting at 8 a.m. in high school. The line up for the parade will be at the south end of town near the REM building. Parade participants are requested to arrive no later than 12:30 p.m.
After the parade, the fun will resume at the park with inflatable structures for children on Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Bracelets will be sold every day at the park. Park food vendors will include the Paden City Volunteer Fire Co. Food Trailer. The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 86 in Paden City will sell food during the musical performances.
Monday’s music lineup is another dandy with Remedy taking the stage to start things off at 2 p.m., they will be followed by longtime Labor Day artist DeWayne Spaw at 4:45 p.m. Closing the celebration on Monday night will be the great Jimmy Fortune who will thrill the crowd with some of his own famous hits. Make sure to head to the park for this great day of fun and music. Come early and stay late.
