Stephen Welsh hails Postecoglou’s “brilliant” formation
Stephen Welsh hailed the formation of new boss Ange Postecoglou as “tough” but “brilliant”. The 21-year-old became a mainstay of the Celtic defense last season and is hopeful that it continues. The Welshman is fortunate enough to impress Postecoglou during the preseason and very much enjoys working under the 55-year-old Australian.
Speaking to Celtic TV, Welsh detailed the first week as a player under the new manager, explaining what training was like.
“It was brilliant, really positive and the sessions were of a very high standard. It was very specific and football based which is exactly what you want as a player.
“You don’t stop or hang around. You do one thing right into the next, so the intensity is really good.
“The boys are working hard and trying to prove themselves so it’s a good start to the preseason. Pre-season training was tough in this heat.
“It’s always going to be difficult in the preseason, especially the first two weeks. I really enjoyed it. I am familiarizing myself with everything and looking forward to the matches to come now. “
